GOOGLE CONFIRMS BLOCKING YOUTUBE VIDEOS IN EGYPT: Google Inc. has confirmed that it has blocked access to YouTube videos after the Egyptian government said they were contrary to the law, Daily News Egypt has reported. The Egyptian government submitted the links to the videos and they were blocked "after a thorough review," said a spokesperson for Google. The videos have been blocked only on the Egyptian version of YouTube and are still available in other countries, the spokesperson added.
MICROSOFT TO SWITCH HOTMAIL ACCOUNTS TO OUTLOOK.COM: Microsoft has announced said it had begun switching Hotmail accounts to Outlook.com as it officially launches its revamped email service, Reuters has reported. "The upgrade is seamless and instant for Hotmail customers; everything including their @hotmail.com email address, password, contacts, etc., will stay the same," Microsoft said. The number of active accounts on Outlook.com grew to 60 million in just six months during its preview period, it said, adding it lets users connect to Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. Launched in 1996, Hotmail was among the first web-based email services.
INFINITY TV EXPANDS CHANNEL LINEUP : UAE-based Infinity TV has launched two new channels from the TwoFour54 campus in Abu Dhabi, using a complete workflow and infrastructure solution from Harris Broadcast. The new set up includes a master control suite and an automated playout facility. The system, designed and implemented in association with local systems integrator Media Consult, includes Harris Broadcast automation, servers, branding, routing and monitoring equipment.
