Norman AS to Launch Norman Network Protection Solution at RSA, Demos to be Available
SAN DIEGO --(Business Wire)--
For corporations, government entities, utilities and any organization
where security teams are increasingly concerned about advanced
persistent threats (APTs), Norman AS is launching its new Norman Network
Protection solution. Norman AS is the global security leader in malware
analysis solutions for enterprises, service providers and governments.
Key new features of the Norman Network Protection version 5 solution
include SMTP relay, a new user interface, a faster scanning engine, and
enhanced open APIs.
Demos of the new Norman Network Protection solution will be available
in Norman's booth, #2047, Tuesday, February 26 - Thursday, February 28.
"Our new Norman Network Protection solution offers security teams
enhanced capabilities and gives them more control over their malware
detection and forensics, specifically more control between our Norman
Network Protection and Malware Analyzer G2 (News - Alert) solutions," said Norman Chief
Technology Officer, Christophe Birkeland. "With security teams seeing as
many as 100,000 malicious files per day, it is critical they utilize
powerful, automated solutions whenever possible, and our new NNP
uncovers threats faster and more comprehensively than competitive
products or previous versions of the NNP solution."
Norman Network Protection (NNP) is the core of Norman's comprehensive
threat protection suite that also includes Norman's Malware Analyzer G2
(MAG2). NNP automatically detects and collects malicious files that
traditional defenses miss. MAG2 provides industry-leading hybrid
SandBoxing, which enables IT and security teamsto run suspicious files
concurrently through the Norman SandBox® and Norman's virtualized
IntelliVM modules. Norman's Network Threat Discovery feature integrates
the two solutions: it provides a feedback loop through which NNP uploads
malware files to MAG2 for analysis, and after MAG2 has identified
specific malware attributes, Norman Threat Discovery forwards the
information to NNP, which protects the network against future threats.
New features in Norman Network Protection version 5 include:
-
SMTP Relay - NNP now features an MTA "store and forward" capability,
whereby NNP receives and examines email after the spam filter, and
then based on results, delivers, quarantines or forwards it to a
security administrator. It differs from a spam filter in that the
solution focuses on the behavior of advanced threats contained in the
email attachments, not on the spam content of the mail message itself.
-
New UI - NNP 5 introduces a powerful new user interface that
substantially simplifies usage, provides live dashboard views of
network analytics by protocol, enhances workflow support, and
leverages the new application programming interfaces.
-
Faster Scanning Engine - NNP 5 includes Norman's highest performance
scanning engine, NSE7, delivering new file detection capabilities,
integrated Norman SandBox® functionality, smaller update files, and a
rapid response platform to add new functionality as the threat
landscape evolves.
-
Enhanced Remote APIs - Remote APIs allow administrators to remotely
and centrally manage, configure and monitor NNP appliances. The APIs
also enable teams managing more than one NNP deployment to remotely
and centrally configure all deployments. Administrators can also
integrate NNP more easily into their workflows by building their own
custom scripts.
Norman has completely revamped the core network protection technology in
NNP 5, delivering a modular approach to defend against malware that
enables organizations to rapidly respond to the fast-changing APT (News - Alert)
landscape.
