Vodafone Surprises Irish Shoppers with Interactive Outdoor Games

In keeping with their Christmas campaign slogan 'Great surprises make a great Christmas', Vodafone Ireland invited Irish shoppers to play 'Christmas Catch' - a new, interactive digital game - in the run-up to Christmas.
The game, which was the first of its kind in Ireland, allowed passing shoppers to play using their mobiles as game controllers.
Vodafone worked with leading creative technologist Tim Redfern, who combined interactive voice response (IVR) technology, a simple system usually used to create automated menus for telephone support lines, with a classic game-play format.
In the game, players control Vodafone's much-loved Christmas animals as they catch snowflakes to keep retro versions of classic Christmas carols playing.
The projected outdoor game brought an innovative twist to Vodafone's Christmas campaign that focuses on surprising people this Christmas.
The events were unveiled in iconic locations in Galway on December 12th and Dublin on December 14th. Shoppers were invited to stop and play the game, and enjoy the festive atmosphere with free tea or coffee, cinnamon bread and chocolate lollipops.
Top scorers were also awarded spot prizes, many of which were Vodafone's suggested top gifts for Christmas.
