IMAGINiT Technologies Upgrades Scan to BIM with 2013 Version

Rand Worldwide, a provider of technology solutions to organizations with engineering design and information technology requirements, announced its IMAGINiT Technologies division has released its new Scan to BIM 2013 software.
According to a release, in addition to complete compatibility with the Autodesk Revit 2013 software platform, this new software release offers key enhancements designed to help effectively and efficiently manage point clouds natively within Revit.

Scan to BIM 2013 seamlessly integrates with all the Autodesk Revit 2013 products - Autodesk Revit Architecture software, Autodesk Revit Structure software and Autodesk Revit MEP software. This new downloadable version includes features specifically designed to make architects, engineers, contractors, and surveyors more efficient. While there are many new important features, Scan to BIM still allows users to work natively in Revit, without the need to go back and forth with other programs. As described by the company, new feature highlights include:
Column recognition for any vertical column, whether it's round or rectangular, Scan to BIM 2013 now quickly transforms imported data points into a specific column type. Effortlessly creating geometry from the point cloud aids in easy and accurate measurement and placement of architectural elements. Already available for MEP elements such as pipes and ducts, this latest version extends these time-saving features to any vertical column.
Arc wall generation is fast and simple now that Scan to BIM 2013 can transform a set of points that signify a curved wall into an accurate wall with rich data. Now both straight and curved walls can be accurately and quickly created directly from the point cloud inside of Revit.
Managing point clouds is another new performance enhancing feature of Scan to BIM 2013. With one click, users can quickly highlight a specific point cloud within Revit and navigate within that point cloud while leaving all the other data untouched. Focusing on a single point cloud not only increases software performance, but also saves time by allowing users to quickly navigate to the specific information they need.
Additional Scan to BIM 2013 features include: workflow-based tools that aid in setting up and working with models; the ability to find true dimensions by accurately measuring points, and; visualizing accuracy by comparing the Revit model against the point cloud and more.
