Cadec Wins 2012 Green Supply Chain Award From Supply & Demand Chain Executive
MANCHESTER, NH, Nov 26, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
Cadec Global, which provides enterprise-class fleet management
solutions, announced today that it has won a 2012 Green Supply Chain
Award from Supply & Demand Chain Executive (SDCE) Magazine for
helping trucking fleets run more efficiently.
The 2012 Green Supply Chain Awards recognize companies making green
or sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy, and
working to achieve measurable sustainability goals within their own
operations and/or supply chains. The awards also recognize providers
of supply chain solutions and services assisting their customers in
achieving measurable sustainability goals. More than 100 entries were
received; the winners are featured in the November/December 2012
issue of Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine and at
www.SDCExec.com.
Cadec provides trucking fleet management solutions that help
organizations improve efficiency, including reducing fuel
consumption, carbon emissions and paper use. Cadec combines an
on-board computer with advanced software that helps track and reduce
fuel-wasting behaviors such as speeding, sudden decelerations,
excessive idling, and out-of-route driving (e.g. unauthorized stops),
which in turn helps reduce carbon emissions. In addition, Cadec
eliminates the need for paper in trucks by automatically tracking
drivers' hours of service (no need for paper logs), enabling drivers
to accept delivery signatures electronically and enabling drivers to
send electronic receipts and invoices.
Examples of the impact Cadec has made on its customers'
sustainability efforts include:
-- A major Southwest grocery distributor was able to eliminate the use of
paper entirely in its delivery processes -- with 300 trucks and 15
distribution centers across three states, that's a lot of paper saved.
-- Cadec also helped that grocery distributor enforce an idling limit on
trucks, which reduced total idling hours across the fleet by 90
percent.
-- A well-known bottled water company cut its fleet's idling time by 41
percent -- the equivalent of taking 12 cars off the road in terms of
carbon emissions.
-- Cadec helped a well-known dairy company increase MPGs in its private
fleet by a half-mile per gallon, saving $500,000 in fuel in the first
year alone.
"Fleet management can have a tremendous impact on fleet efficiency,
particularly in the areas of fuel economy, carbon emissions and paper
use," said Pete Allen, Chief Executive Officer at Cadec. "Customers
tell us that sustainability is among their most pressing business
concerns. We're proud to be among the vendors recognized for our work
in greening the industry."
