Sonus Session Border Controllers selected by Hutchison 3G Austria to deliver an improved service to subscribers

SIP communications company Sonus Networks Inc (NASDAQ:SONS) announced on Friday that Hutchison 3G Austria (H3G), a mobile multimedia operator, has selected the Sonus SBC 5000 series of session border controllers (SBCs) as the SIP interconnect platform from their mobile core network.
The SBC 5000 series, Sonus Session Border Controller 5200 and Sonus Session Border Controller 5100, are designed to provide an intelligent interconnection between H3G and their partner networks.
Sonus Networks said that the SBC 5000 series ensures regulatory compliance, secures the network border, delivers the essential transcoding of media and provides codec, dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) and fax interworking, it will also traverse intermediate network address translation (NAT) and firewalls and enforce quality of service policies.
