By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor
Alistair Farquharson, chief technology officer at SOA Software, said, “For companies who need to extend the reach of their enterprise data to mobile users and Web 2.0 applications, this new REST capability is essential. Our enablement of the DataPower appliance has resulted in large gains for customers inside the enterprise.”
According to officials, REST technology enables easy access to backend data and enhances enterprise IT. Customers can leverage DataPower’s features to work with mainframes and other backend systems.
SOA Software helps customers make IBM WebSphere DataPower as the foundation of their enterprise services infrastructure. This ensures easy availability of enterprise SOA for DataPower to users in cost-effective ways. With the help of Policy Manager for DataPower ,customers can model, secure, monitor, cluster and automate REST services on DataPower easily.
“Now we are adding to those gains by securely and efficiently enabling an even larger audience of Web and mobile users through REST services. This will surely be a positive change in how our customers use DataPower to operate, manage and integrate their IT services in an SOA environment,” Farquharson added.
Policy Manager for DataPower delivers a SOA governance solution for REST services, which centralizes and automates the management of DataPower services while also making the implementation economical and consistent with policy and service definition.
With increase in adoption of REST services, Policy Manager for DataPower provides customers with easy usability features and enables them to deliver powerful API, mobile and Web 2.0 functionalities to their user communities, added officials.
Recently, SOA Software was recertified with Gold Independent Software Vendor (ISV)/Software Competency in the Microsoft (News - Alert) Partner Network. As the technologies and strategies of the two companies evolve, SOA Software’s full lifecycle governance of service-oriented architecture (SOA) and APIs is proving to be an excellent fit for Microsoft’s cloud/on-premises hybrid strategy.
