IBM (News - Alert) has made enhancements to its PureSystems offering. The new offering is equipped with big data and cloud computing technology that will help companies to easily manage and analyse huge volume of data. With this release, IBM has yet again proved its leadership in new technologies like big data and cloud computing. The new solutions have expanded opportunities within growth markets and for managed service providers (MSPs).
The PureData System provides Analytics that will assist clients to manage and use huge volumes of data in making effective decisions. For easy cloud deployment, IBM has developed the Smaller PureApplication System while the PureApplication System on POWER7+ is developed to provide smooth management of transaction with analytics applications on cloud. The other products in the suite are developed for flexible financing options along with specific MSP Editions supporting new services models. To further enhance the quality and security of virtual desktops, IBM has introduced the new SmartCloud Desktop Infrastructure.
Emile Werr, head of product development, NYSE Big Data Group and global head of Enterprise Data Architecture and Identity Access Management for NYSE Euronext, said, “NYSE needs to store and analyze seven years of historical data and be able to search through approximately one terabyte of data per day, which amounts to hundreds in total. The PureData System for Analytics powered by Netezza (News - Alert) system provides the scalability, simplicity and performance critical in being able to analyze our big data to deliver results eight hours faster than on the previous solution, which in our world is a game changer when you look at the impact on businesses every second that passes.”
The Analytics solutions will be beneficial in the health and retail industry; the data will provide insights and help in analysing the market trends. The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has deployed PureData System for Analytics to manage huge trading data and easily analyse trading anomalies at a faster rate. The new cloud deployment solutions provide opportunity to all companies across geographies to increase and expand their business at speed with minimum risk.
Recently, IBM was in news when it was awarded a five-year, CA (News - Alert)$68.5 million (US$68.6 million) contract to continue supporting Ontario, Canada’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) in the efficient installation and management of the province’s Meter Data Management and Repository (MDM/R) system.
