By Sujata Garud, TMCnet Contributor
According to independent research, the software consulting industry is witnessing a spike in demand after IBM (News - Alert) launched upgraded version of its Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) software, which the company introduced in June this year.
A study mentioned high levels of satisfaction among users of IBM application lifecycle management software. As a result, some firms have seen enormous improvement in Web traffic and inquiries.
An independent study of over 1200 developers conducted by Evans Data showed that IBM Rational users are, “more satisfied with its features and capabilities than users of any other major software development platform.” The study was carried out as part of Evans Data’s annual User's Choice Software Development Platform survey.
According to the study’s results, IBM Rational rated highest in several categories, including application modeling, parallel programming, multiple-server support and remote development.
Arcisphere Technologies, a new mid-Atlantic based participant to the IBM Rational Consulting industry, has recorded increase in website traffic, Google (News - Alert) search volume and other search metrics.
“Being in the industry for the past 20 years, we were well aware of the quality of the IBM Rational suite, but in the last month it’s seemed like a lot more companies have caught on,” said an Arcisphere senior official. “Our search traffic is way up and on the qualitative side, it felt like we saw a lot more inquiries at recent conferences and industry events, about everything from IBM Rational ClearCase staffing to Build Forge training to lifecycle management support.”
IBM is concentrating on creating cloud-based solutions that will allow companies to be more responsive and implement more cost-effective development, testing and delivery. IBM Rational is based on the collaborative Jazz platform and comprises a set of products. In the most recent version of its offerings, IBM has combined IBM Rational Team Concert, IBM Rational Requirements Composer and IBM Rational Quality Manager into one simple package.
The most recent version also contain a cloud-based development and testing infrastructure (IBM SmartCloud Enterprise) and a pilot program for pay-as-you-go cloud-based design, development, build, testing and deployment services (IBM SmartCloud Application Services).
IBM was recently in the news when major retail hypermarket chain REAL, part of Metro Group, worked with IBM to launch a new electronic coupon system throughout its 320 German stores. This first-of-a-kind digital coupon system allows consumers to use their mobile phones to find and redeem e-coupons as they shop in stores.
