SOA Software, a provider of service-oriented architecture (SOA) governance, cloud and enterprise API management solutions, claims to be altering the customer experience at IBM (News - Alert) WebSphere DataPower with the latest release of Policy Manager for DataPower.

The SOA governance solution builds on SOA Software’s experience with the integration of SOA run-time components. The company said the product reduces administrative overhead costs, while ensuring a consistent policy and service definition.

SOA Software asserted that customers of DataPower will be able to boost their SOA infrastructure with a number of features, including contracts, advanced policy management, security, automated deployment, and PKI management.

The firm plans to improve the IBM offering through codifying several patterns that deploy services to DataPower appliances This task will be undertaken using a policy-based approach.

SOA Software says the DataPower governance features like monitoring and policy management are ready to be deployed right out of the box. Features like a dashboard and real-time charts offer continuous feedback.

The latest release of the product adds a number of other features, such as automated policy management, cluster management patterns, and centralized cryptographic key and certificate management.

SOA Software stated the solution allows customers to implement and enforce consistent policies throughout their infrastructure. It also offers enterprises information on their service usage and performance

“In the case of Policy Manager for DataPower, we have taken our best practices from the field and packaged them into an appliance-specific solution that will help enterprises benefit from DataPower appliances as core instruments of SOA governance,” said Alistair Farquharson, CTO of SOA Software.

The firm appears to have close links with IBM, having appointed Corey Scobie as its vice president of technology in September. Earlier this year, SOA Software announced it had provided a SOA governance software solution to Microsoft (News - Alert).
